A notice bot is useful only if it reduces work without creating a new source of noise.
The UIU Discord Bot retrieves notices from United International University, can post new notices
automatically, provides academic calendar information, and includes server utilities and slash
commands. It uses Python and discord.py.
Retrieval is not the whole feature
It is easy to describe the project as scraping notices and sending them to Discord. The more important behavior is deciding whether a notice is actually new.
Without duplicate prevention, an automated path can repeatedly publish the same information. The integration may technically be running while the community experience gets worse. Duplicate prevention is therefore part of the successful outcome, not a polish task.
Put the information where it is useful
University communities already use Discord to ask questions and share updates. Commands and automatic notice posts make academic information available in that context instead of asking every person to repeat the same checking process elsewhere.
The bot also exposes academic calendar information and server utilities. Those features fit the same principle: reduce a small repeated task in a place the community already understands.
Keep the claim proportional to the evidence
The project proves practical Python work, notice retrieval, duplicate prevention, Discord integration, slash commands, and community-focused automation.
I do not attach invented server counts, user numbers, or adoption metrics to it. The useful case study is the problem and the behavior I can verify.
